Ageing

Gerontological Interdisciplinary Conference

The 6^th Ageing conference was supported by the financial contribution and participation of the Alzheimer Foundation (ANF), the auspices of the Second Faculty of Medicine of Charles University and Motol University Hospital, and the activities of members of Neurotrend, z.s. The co-organizer is the Prague College of Psychosocial Studies. ANF funded the prizes for the winners of the competition for the best papers in the conference.

Conference objectives:

• To gain an overview of current topics related to the specifics of education of older persons;
• To gain useful knowledge directly transferable to the practice of education and activation of older people;
• Establishing contacts and cooperation, the possibility of building interdisciplinary teams;
• Getting an overview of the activities of Czech and Slovak researchers in the field;
• Achieving higher competitiveness in research activities.

History

The conference is held biannually in the Czech Republic since 2012. The tradition was founded by Hana Georgi (previously Stepankova), a geropsychologist who has worked at several research and academic institutions through her career.

A close co-operation has been established with the Alzheimer’s Foundation (AF), and its director, Šárka Kovandová. AF supports the conference and also the competition within the conference. The organizing committee includes Jindřiška Kotrlová.

In the history of the conference, we have co-operated with institutions that supported the event: Prague Psychiatric Centre, 3^rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, Neurotrend, and Prague College of Psychosocial Studies.

The 5^th conference was postponed from the regular date in October 2020 to the beginning of 2021, and held online due to the covid-19 pandemic. The 6^th Ageing conference was held on 2-3 February, 2023.

All interested parties - researchers, academics, and practitioners, students, and other professionals and the general public are welcome to participate actively or passively.

Active participants are invited to submit full-texts of their contributions (in Czech, Slovak, or English) to the peer-review process, and the successful ones are then published in the conference proceedings. So far, the Ageing 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018 conference proceedings have been indexed on Web of Science.
